I adore dark chocolate. In addition to these combined foods making a delicious dish – they do provide some nutritional value.
And by nutritional value, I mean immense happiness for the rest of your day.
Seriously though, peanut butter is a great source of healthy plant-based fat. Especially if you’re getting peanut butter homemade, or without any additional junk. Personally, I buy my peanut butter without any added sugars or salt. It may take some time to get used to, but it’s still very tasty. Besides, you can always add salt or sugar on your own, if need be.
Although peanut butter is known for its a great protein source, it’s actually mostly made of fat. According to Nutrition Data, peanut butter’s macro ratio is 13% carbs/ 72% fats / 15% protein.
But don’t be scared of plant-based fats. Just keep it balanced.
Dark Chocolate fact: Dark chocolate is a great antioxidant. But it has to be dark – no milk in it, please!
Go for dairy-free dark chocolate that has an easy-to-read ingredient list, with a high percentage of cacao. Extra cool points for dark chocolate that’s organic and ethically traded.
Let’s get back to why you’re here: an epic bowl of oat bran. This bowl is pretty, but it tastes better when everything’s all mixed around as it should be. The visual is just for photos. After the not-so-glamorous photo-shoot, my oats looked like a messed up bowl of stomach troubles after I was done thoroughly mixing the ingredients together. The Instagram food photo rule is to post pictures before you destroy it with your mouth.
Reasons why I love oat bran: It is a little different from rolled oats, but with much more fiber and goodness. It reminds me of farina/cream of wheat, but with a better nutritional profile. Additionally, it only takes 2 minutes to make. It’s also super cheap – just like any other oat.
However, it can be tricky to find. It’s usually available on Amazon, though.
